| The leading art museum in the Southeastern United States, The High is located in a beautiful building designed by Richard Meier, and now also includes three new buildings that are called "The Piano Buildings" which have doubled the size of the museum. Inside the city landmark, there are more than 11,000 works of art in its permanent collection, including 19th and 20th century contemporary art, photography, European art, and African American art. The High also prides itself on collecting works of art by Southern artists. The High is a division of the Woodruff Arts Center, which also includes the Alliance Theatre, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, young Audiences, and the 14th Street Playhouse.
